Georgetown is the capital of this province of Malaysia - the island of Penang. It is located about a six hour drive north from Kuala Lumpur and is very close to the Thailand border. The island is connected to the mainland by a large bridge and is also served by ferry service.
One of the island's oldest buildings was an old Brittish fort from the 1800's.
